THREATS

General Statement of No Tolerance. Schools should be an example of what is required regarding the observance and respect for law in society at large. Schools also must be highly conscious of the health, safety, and welfare of students, staff, and the public. Board policy forbids threats that would take the life of another person or cause a person great bodily harm at school, on school grounds, or at school-sponsored activities.

The Board of Education prohibits threats to the safety of another person:

1. On any school property, including parking lots, athletic fields, or any other premise under the control of the school district; school vehicles, or any vehicle used for school purposes; in any school building or other building or premise used for school functions.
2. Off school property where the threat is detrimental to the welfare or safety of students or school personnel, adversely affects the discipline in any school or adversely affects the educational program in any school.

A student who violates this policy may be suspended or expelled, depending on the nature of the violation.
