                                      CONFIDENTIALITY OF INFORMATION

The school district strives to maintain the confidentiality of all information related to school district students and personnel consistent with applicable State and Federal laws.  Student educational records are subject to the confidentiality requirements imposed by Code 5600. However, school district employees and volunteers may come into contact with other confidential personnel or student information, including health care information, which is not within the scope of Code 5600 or any other written school district policy.

It is the purpose of this policy to clarify that, in the absence of any other written school district policy covering the confidentiality of information, it is the general policy of the school district that all school district employees and volunteers will maintain the confidentiality of all student and personnel information acquired while working in the school  district unless disclosure of confidential information (i) is authorized by Code 5600 or another specific written school district policy (other than this policy), or (ii) is made to another school district employee or volunteer authorized to have access to such information; or (iii) is authorized by written consent of a party legally authorized to grant consent, or (iv) is required to be made by judicial or administrative process.

School employees and volunteers are encouraged to bring any questions concerning confidentiality issues or disclosures to the attention of the building Principal or the Superintendent.
