NON-CREDIT COURSES CALLED CONTINUING UNITS OF EDUCATION
In some cases classes taught by certified or non-certified instructors or classes taken by students who may or may not be qualified high school or adult students are taken for purely enjoyment or self-learning opportunities.
The board of education will not require the class to meet on regular hours or have approved course content for credit.
The superintendent is authorized to organize and/or approve all such courses. The administrator may authorize the use of school equipment and buildings, provided the cost to the district is minimal.
The school district may cooperatively contract with other agencies to provide such instruction on a public demand basis.
Grades and credits will not be officially recorded for application to graduation requirements. However, the course may be listed on transcripts with notation to title, level of difficulty, type of instruction and quantity. The recognition of student achievement is granted to promote individual participation in the quest for enjoyable learning in interest areas.
1. Students, when under the age of 18, may be accepted with the permission of parent or guardian and their principal.
2. One continuing education unit will be given to each student who successfully completes the course on a basis of one unit for each ten hours of classroom instructor-approved work.
3. Course must be self-supporting from participant fees.
