CLASS SIZE

K-8 Class Size Standards: It is the goal of the Spearfish School District to maintain class size at the optimum level appropriate to student learning needs and maturation levels. The district will attempt to comply with the following student/teacher ratios:

Kindergarten 19-21 Students

Grades 1-3 19-24 Students

Grades 4-8 23-27 Students

9-12 Class Size Standards: Optimum class size in grades 9-12 may be exceeded in a given year when circumstances related to late enrollment, classroom space, financial resources or other mitigating factors.
