DEVELOPMENT, ADOPTION AND AMENDMENT 0F POLICIES

The Board of Education of the Spearfish School District 40-2 welcomes the participation of two teachers, one administrator, the superintendent, one student, one classified staff member, two board of education members and one parent of a school-aged child in the development of school policies and administrative regulations and in their revision, as may be required from time to time. The Board recognizes that, because of the knowledge, wisdom, experience and sincere interest of professional employees in the operation and continuous improvement of our public schools, the district will benefit greatly from the advice and recommendations of this committee.

Policy proposals and suggested amendments to or revisions of existing policies, except those relating to the internal operation of the Board, shall be submitted in writing to the superintendent. The proposals, amendments or revisions will be read and discussed by the Policy Committee. The committee will make every effort to consult all, or a representative sampling of, personnel who would be responsible for administering the proposal, who would be subject to its provisions, or who otherwise would be affected by it.

The recommendation of the committee will be submitted in writing to the superintendent for his review and presentation to the Board of Education. The Board will vote for adoption at least one month following the first reading of the proposed policy, amendment or revision.
