Welcome! My name
is Cheryl Lind and I am the speech/language pathologist who works
with children in grades K-2 at West Elementary. My
childhood was spent in rural Southwestern Minnesota. I received a
degree from South Dakota State University in Early Childhood Development
and an M.A. degree from the University of South Dakota in Communication
Disorders with a Preschool Handicapped outside area emphasis.
I worked for the Sioux Falls Public School
system from 1979 until 1986 and my duties included being a member
of the district Early Childhood Evaluation Team and serving children
preschool through ninth grade. Our family moved to Spearfish in 1986
and I have since worked for the Spearfish Public Schools.
I taught the Special Education Preschool
class for two years and I have served children birth through fourth
grade. I am currently serving children in grades kindergarten through
two at West Elementary. I have also worked with developmentally disabled
adults at the local adjustment
training center, and with all ages and types of disorders ages at
the local hospital and home health agency, and at a local rehabilitation
agency.
I am a member of the South Dakota Speech/Language
and Hearing Association and have held the office of secretary.
I am certified by and am a member of the American Speech and Hearing
Association (ASHA).
I have been married for more than 25 years
and we have two children. Our family enjoys many activities together
in the beautiful Black Hills.
